Why We’re Called Swamp Chicken

“Swamp chicken” is a light‑hearted, colloquial nickname for the moorhen — those little black waterbirds with the bright red beaks that wander around ponds, marshes, and fenland. Growing up around the Fens, the name sticks with you: it’s local, it’s quirky, and it’s impossible to forget.

Swamp Chicken Coffee takes that same spirit — familiar, fun, and proudly rooted in our area — and turns it into a coffee brand built on great flavour and a bit of cheeky charm. Just like the moorhen, we’re small, lively, and always found near the water… except our water goes straight into espresso.
